Live Music
Big Sur
For a change of scenery, why not take the day off and head down to Big Sur? The Big Sur River Inn and Fernwood Resort are nice places to kick back after a long day of hiking or playing on the beach.
Carmel
If you've never been Sunset Center in Carmel, do yourself a favor and take in a concert at this lovely venue. There isn't a bad seat in the house.
Pacific Grove
The Works bookstore on Lighthouse Avenue features acoustic music most Saturday evenings. Stop by and check it out!
Monterey
Monterey's Golden State Theater is a 1920s-era movie palace that's been lovingly restored to its original beauty. You can see movies and live acts here.
If you're in the mood for some Blues, check out Sly McFly's Refueling Station on Cannery Row. Great food and what a view! Just across the street from Sly's is Blue Fin Cafe and Billiards. They've got live acts on Friday and Saturday nights, so check them out! There's always a good time to be had on the Row.
One block up from Cannery Row, right next to the Imax Theater, is Jose's Mexican Bar and Grill. Below the restaurant you'll find Jose's Underground Lounge, a cool little stage with a full bar.
Our friend Jason Franklin hangs out at the East Village Coffee Lounge (formerly Morgan's), so you know it's cool.
Santa Cruz
The Catalyst. A local legend.
If you like Jazz, a trip to Kuumbwa Jazz Center is a must. The food's pretty good, too
Just off Highway 101 is Moe's Alley, a cool little place with great live music and an outdoor patio. I was thisclose to Sonny Landreth and Shannon Curfman.
During the summer, the Boardwalk has free live acts on Friday night.
There's always something going on at the Civic. Check out their calendar of upcoming events to see if something grabs your interest.
